Biography
John Barton
has been actively performing business valuations for over twenty years for the
purposes of estate and gift tax, financial reporting, litigation support, and
transactions.
He has been a senior member of the American Society of
Appraisers (ASA) since 1993 and is a licensed CPA in the State of Pennsylvania.
He has been qualified as an expert witness for
business valuation testimony in the States of Pennsylvania, New Jersey,
Florida,
as well as
U.S. Federal District Court.
John has taught business valuation courses around the
world since 1999.
In addition to teaching the ASA’s Principles of
Valuation courses in the
U.S., he
has taught valuation courses for Big Four accounting firms in the United States,
Finland,
Turkey,
Hungary,
and Cyprus.
He also has taught valuation courses at the Internal Revenue Service, and is
currently an adjunct instructor of Finance in
Villanova
University’s
MBA Program.
John is currently active in the ASA as well as the
Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).
He serves as the Vice Chair of the ASA’s
Business Valuation Committee,
which manages the business valuation discipline for the ASA.
He is a frequent speaker and author on valuation
topics, including recent presentations to the PICPA and the ASA in
Philadelphia.
